The Importance of Human Relations in Insurance Mediation and Consulting

human relations

Famasegur’s mission is to be close to its clients and partners, and it is based on this simple idea that we want to continue building our history, leaving an indelible mark on insurance mediation and consultancy.

We live in an age where everything happens very quickly, in the incessant search for perfection and agility. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies have driven this movement, providing significant productivity gains for many companies and professions. In fact, the future points to a trend in which routine tasks, previously the exclusive preserve of human effort, will be complemented or even entirely delegated to machines.

However, it is essential to recognize that the relational essence of this activity, particularly in insurance mediation and business support, can’t be replicated by an algorithm. Human interaction is the basis of this profession, especially when we are talking about a personalized service that is close to customers.

The question is: will we progress to the point of completely replacing the B2B or B2C with a D2C (direct-to-consumer) exclusively operated by machines? I don’t think so, even considering the immediacy of recent generations. It’s true that these generations value fast and accessible solutions, such as underwriting a risk at the click of a button, but organizations still need trained professionals who inspire confidence and present clear solutions tailored to their specific needs.

A current example is insurtechs, which provide the end consumer with a wide range of market options in an agile and on-demand way. However, when dealing with more complex business needs, prior and personalized analysis remains indispensable, something that can only be carried out with the intervention of a specialist.

Various studies point to the extinction of certain professions, replaced by machines and intelligent software. At the same time, new professions are emerging, many of them still unknown today, but which will meet the needs of the next generations.

The inability to innovate is an emerging risk that must be mitigated. Companies that don’t put innovation at the heart of their strategies run the risk of losing competitiveness and even disappearing in the medium term. However, innovation must coexist with human soft skills, which are irreplaceable in many areas, including insurance mediation and brokerage.

We need robust technological tools, such as actuaries backed up by reliable algorithms. However, understanding the culture of companies, presenting clear solutions and building relationships of trust can only be achieved by qualified professionals. The insurance business, especially mediation and brokerage, has human interaction, empathy and the ability to co-create solutions with clients as invaluable assets.

Although I am enthusiastic about new technologies, I recognize that complete dehumanization, with the replacement of human work by machines, will not be a reality across all industries. On the contrary, it is essential to preserve human relationships in order to continue generating value.

At Famasegur, we believe that human relationships are the foundation for stronger and more sustainable growth. Together, we will build a future where technology and humanity go hand in hand.
